Our History in Columbus Eye Care
Columbus Ophthalmology Associates ophthalmologists, optometrists and opticians have been restoring the vision of hundreds of thousands of central Ohio patients for over three decades. Our history in Columbus eye care began in Dublin in 1983 by Dr. Richard G. Orlando. Since then, Columbus Ophthalmology Associates has been a pioneering medical group on the forefront of innovative medical care that dramatically improves the lives of their patients.
In 1996, COA partnered with a select group of ophthalmologists to open the first outpatient facility designed exclusively for eye surgery in the state of Ohio. The Columbus Eye Surgery Center has three operating rooms and a laser room all with state of the art equipment and a staff with years of experience in all types of ophthalmic surgery. Striving to create the most comfortable experience for our patients, The Columbus Eye Surgery Center ensures patients never have to deal with the stress that can sometimes go along with having surgery in a hospital setting.
As the Dublin community continued to grow, it became apparent that the original location was inadequate to provide the level of care our patients deserved. In early 2000, COA opened its current 10,000 square foot facility complete with The Optical Shoppe to provide one-stop eye care. The Optical Shoppe was designed to offer full service optical care and products, including designer frames and contact lenses.
In 2011, COA renovated and expanded our Mt. Carmel East office to increase testing areas, add more exam rooms and a second Optical Shoppe location to offer a comprehensive approach to eye care for the east side community. COA proudly runs satellite offices in Grove City, Washington Court House and Lima to provide specialized medical and surgical eye care to these areas of Ohio.
