Contact Lens Examinations/Fittings

At Columbus Ophthalmology Associates, we are committed to providing quality specialized eye care services to the residents of Central Ohio in a caring and efficient manner. At both of our full service optical locations, we are pleased to offer standard and specialty contact lens examinations and fittings. Our optometrists take pride in helping even the most difficult to fit contact lens patients. Dr. Mark Nolan and Dr. Dawn Hartman will take the time necessary to meet your individual needs. The key to contact lens success is patience, persistence, and experience.

A routine eye examination won’t provide some of the measurements and testing that are required to determine if your eyes are suitable for contact lens wear or to generate your contact lens prescription. During a contact lens evaluation, patients undergo a refraction (measurement of the prescription), keratometry (measurement of the front surface of the eye), and detailed corneal evaluation via slit lamp biomicroscopy. The doctor may order diagnostic lenses and schedule follow up visits in order to verify the contacts are a healthy fit and provide excellent vision. If it is your first time wearing contact lenses, we will show you how to insert, remove, and care for your new lenses.

Some eye conditions can make contact lens wear more difficult. Many patients stop wearing contact lenses due to discomfort or prescription limitations. We strive to use our experience and the latest technology to help patients with these conditions to be successful contact lens wearers once again.
