Introducing Our New Optometrist, Dr. William Burns, O.D.

At COA, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. William Burns to our team. He will be serving as a full-time optometrist in our Dublin Clinic. Working Monday through Friday, he will see emergency patients, perform contact lens fittings, complete eye exams, and assist our surgeons with their post-operative patients. He looks forward to meeting all of you and working alongside our COA doctors and staff!

Meet Dr. Burns

A Marysville, Ohio native, Dr. Burns first became interested in vision and eyes after receiving his first pair of glasses as a child.

“I can still remember putting them on and being amazed at being able to see blades of grass and individual leaves on trees,” he says. “After that, I always looked forward to going to the eye doctor.”

A Buckeye through and through, Dr. Burns attended The Ohio State University—first receiving his undergraduate degree with honors in biology before going on to receive his Doctor of Optometry with honors in 2013. He then completed a yearlong residency at the Chillicothe and Columbus Veterans Affairs Medical Centers where he served as the attending doctor for fourth-year optometry students during their VA externship.

Dr. Burns is passionate about his field and he is grateful to have the opportunity to help improve his patients’ quality of life through vision.

“It’s rewarding when people tell me I’ve helped with their nighttime driving or with their eye strain on the computer. I’ve also really enjoyed the relationships that I have built with patients.”

As a member of our COA team, he looks forward to working with our surgeons, optometrists, and staff members to care for the ocular needs of our patients.

Outside of work, Dr. Burns enjoys spending time with his family and staying active with sports. He particularly enjoys the camaraderie that accompanies athletics as well as the challenge of mastering a new activity, like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which he began to learn one year ago.

Along with his wife, Ashley, and their children, Dr. Burns enjoys visiting waterfalls. “We’ve been to one in Kentucky, two in North Carolina, three in Tennessee, and four in Ohio!”

He looks forward to meeting all of you and helping you maintain healthy vision for life. We are so excited to have such a wonderful optometrist join our COA family. Welcome to our team, Dr. Burns!
