Get to Know Dr. Burns

Raised in Marysville, Ohio, Dr. William Burns joined Columbus Ophthalmology Associates in 2020. After graduating from The Ohio State University College of Optometry, Dr. Burns completed a residency at the Chillicothe and Columbus Veterans Affairs Medical Centers.

Dr. Burns is a clinical professor at The Ohio State University and is a Diplomate of the American Boards of Optometry. He provides comprehensive primary and medical eye care. He also participates in pre and post-operative management care. Dr. Burns fits contact lenses including specialty contacts, such as scleral contact lenses for keratoconus, corneal scars and dry eye disease. He has a certification for the management of myopia with contact lenses.

Dr. Burns is a member of the COA Dry Eye Clinical team and is interested in the diagnosis of dry eye disease using osmolarity and inflammatory markers as well as the treatment of dry eye disease. Treatments including TearCare, iLux, BlephEx and scleral contact lenses. He also provides Low vision evaluations and can demonstrate devices including magnifiers and telescopes to aid in daily visual tasks and improve the quality of life for patients.

In his free time, Dr. Burns enjoys exercising, training in martial arts, and spending time with his family.
